Spicy Vegan Sloppy Joe Bowl

The healthy, spicy plant-based version of the US classic – fiery, high in fiber, and packed with plant protein.

20 Min.

Preparation

1. Prepare the soy protein:
Place the soy protein granules in a bowl, cover with boiling water or vegetable broth, and soak for 10 minutes. Press out excess liquid thoroughly using a fine-mesh sieve.

2. Sauté the base:
Finely dice the onion and garlic. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet and sauté the drained soy protein with the onions until lightly browned and crispy.

3. Add vegetables and sauces:
Add the shredded carrots, drained corn, rinsed kidney beans, and diced tomatoes to the skillet. Stir in the soy sauce and Sriracha sauce.

4. Simmer and season:
Add paprika powder, cumin, garlic powder, and chili flakes. Let the mixture simmer over medium heat for about 10 to 15 minutes until it reaches a thick, juicy consistency. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
